About

Astragalus is one of the oldest medicinal plants, whose history of origin is fanned by legends. Astragalus has a number of medicinal properties: antihypertensive, sedative, vasodilator. Laniflorous astragalus is spread in the steppe and forest-steppe regions of the European part of Russia.

Chemical composition

In the herb of laniflorous astragalus there are contained:

  • triterpene saponins – daziantozide, dazianthogenin derivatives (cycloartan series);
  • flavonoids (kaempferol, quercetin, isorhamnetin, astragalozide);
  • tannins;
  • coumarins;
  • amino acids;
  • vitamins, including alpha-tocopherol (vitamin E).

Astragalus refers to plants that accumulate selenium (up to 1.5 mg%).

The plant contains a variety of macro-and micronutrients (calcium, silicon, aluminum, iron, magnesium, cobalt, zinc, copper, manganese, molybdenum, chromium).

Health impact

Astragalus preparations possess:

  • soothing;
  • hypotensive;
  • vasodilator;
  • hypotensive action;
  • cardiotonic;
  • diuretic properties.

Along with the sedative and hypotensive effect of laniflorous astragalus gives effects similar to cardiotonic glycosides, and also dilates coronary vessels, blood vessels of the kidneys, increases diuresis.

Coronary-expanding and cardiac contractility properties of astragalus against the background of a slower heart rate improve overall and organ hemodynamics.

Astragalus contains a unique natural complex of tocopherols and selenium, necessary for muscular activity. This complex is used in clinical practice for various muscular dystrophies.

Astragalus normalizes the function of blood coagulation and anti-coagulation systems. It improves cerebral circulation

Indications

Laniflorous astragalus is used in:

  • initial forms of hypertension;
  • insomnia;
  • coronary heart disease;
  • swelling;
  • shortness of breath;
  • cyanosis.

The infusion is applied with:

  • gingivitis;
  • stomatitis;
  • periodontal disease in the form of gargles and for oral administration.

Contraindications

Complications and side effects in the appointment of preparations on the basis of laniflorous astragalus are not fixed.

But still, do not take astragalus for people who are allergic to this plant. Be sure that under the supervision of a physician you need to use decoctions and tinctures of astragalus for people with chronic heart disease.
